Night Fall is the world’s first ballet especially designed for virtual reality and takes you from your seat in the audience to a spot right at the middle of the stage as you are surrounded by the mesmerizing dancers of the Dutch National Ballet. Dutch press called Night Fall a key moment in dance history and a wonder of classical art and modern technology. Night Fall was created in cooperation with Samsung and the Dutch National Ballet and has won multiple national and international awards.

The choreography is inspired by the world-famous ‘white acts’ from Romantic ballets like Swan Lake, La Bayadère and Les Sylphides. Night Fall tells the story of two lovers, trapped in a limbo-like situation and enchanted by a violinist. Trying to reach each other but separated by the violinist, the man ends up exhausted on the floor and the woman as part of the corps the ballet.

Night Fall is a co-production of the prestigious Dutch National Ballet, &samhoud media, Samsung and Chester Music. The ballet was choreographed by Peter Leung, a former dancer with the Dutch National Ballet, and the music is composed by Robin Rimbaud (Scanner). Night Fall premiered at the Uitmarkt in Amsterdam, which traditionally kicks off the cultural season. Dutch press called the performance “a key moment in dance history” (de Volkskrant) and “a wonder of classical art and modern technology” (NRC). In November 2016, Night Fall won the public choice awards at the Bright VR Awards and in March 2017 it was rewarded with the title “best live experience” at the Cinequest Film & VR Festival.
